What is ‘overrated‘ really? I think “overrated” isn’t having a problem with a show, it’s having a problem with how other people feel about a show, which is silly.
Lets say there are 100 people in a room. We ask them to watch Friends. 80 of them say it’s a good show. 20 didn’t like it at all. 60 out of those who liked it, say it’s a great show and can’t stop talking about it. Now, the 20 who didn’t like the show may or may not like the fact that the show is being appreciated to such great extent. 10 out of those 20 are chilled out people who are ok with someone else liking the show, but the other 10 emphasize on the fact that the show is overrated, only because that’s how they feel.
So, out of 100, 10 say it is overrated. 60 say it’s an amazing show. What makes it overrated? The fact that those 60 really liked it and shouldn’t have? Nope.
It’s all about how an individual views the show. His/her perspective.
is a good show, which was rated high by majority of the audience who watched it. If someone says it is “ridiculously overrated” that’s simply because that someone didn’t really like it and can’t stand others liking it. People may argue why did I deliberately say 80 out of 100 think it is a good show. Well those are rough stats. I couldn’t get ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, but here is something which google pulled up when I looked it up :
Everyone can like what they like; everyone has reasons to like what they like. Calling shows overrated is all too often a way of professing your own superior taste, which is totally lame.
So no, Friends is not Overrated. It’s just a very very good show : )
